Tracy Turner has been working in the charitable realm in the Reno, Nevada, area since 2003.
When she and her husband, Jeff, relocated to Reno in 2002 for his work, Tracy decided that the best way to get to know her new community was to get involved with its nonprofits. Becoming an active member of a local service club, Tracy learned first hand about the significant support nonprofits provide in the northern Nevada area. She then took a job with the local community foundation—first as Program Officer and then as Chief Philanthropy Officer. In the 10 years she spent with the community foundation, she had the privilege of getting to know hundreds of nonprofits and their work. Through meetings and site visits, she gained deep understanding of how the nonprofit sector bolstered the northern Nevada community. With that deep knowledge, she is now a resource to donors of all capacities as she helps them expand their knowledge and make wise giving choices.
As a philanthropic advisor to individuals and private foundation trustees, Tracy is able to help align mission and giving so that donors experience the highest satisfaction with their charitable dollars. Tracy connects donors with nonprofits to ensure mission match, and she works with nonprofits to ensure the funding provided has the best possible outcomes for both the donor and the nonprofit alike.
Tracy’s deep engagement and curious nature allow her to be a resource to nonprofits and potential donors alike.
Tracy holds a PhD in 20th Century American English Literature from University of North Texas, a Masters in English Literature, and a Bachelors in English—both earned at Texas A&M University-Commerce, Texas. She also earned the Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP) certification from The American College. She and her husband, Jeff, are both veterans of the United States Air Force. They enjoy cycling, hiking, camping, and exploring.
